You\u2019ll want this person to be someone who you relate well to and who will be willing to ask you challenging questions to keep you on track. You also need to be able to talk with them regularly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;left&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||5px|&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||5px|&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"List-Paragraph-P\"><strong><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C0\">The Role of a \u2018Barnabas\u2019:<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P0\"><strong><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C1\">Input<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P1\">\n<li class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P2\"><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C2\">In your meetings with your Barnabas, be sure to talk with them about your aims and progress and invite their feedback &#8211; they will be someone to bounce ideas off and chat things through with.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P2\"><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C2\">Remember, you are the one to make plans or decisions for yourself as the learner.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P3\"><strong><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C1\">Support<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P1\">\n<li class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P2\"><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C2\">The role of the Barnabas should largely be that of an encourager who helps you make the progress you desire, but you retain the sole responsibility for directing your development plan.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P3\"><strong><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C1\">Accountability<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P1\">\n<li class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P2\"><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C2\">Your Barnabas may help you clarify where focus is needed and challenge you to make progress toward your goals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"List-Paragraph-P-P2\"><span class=\"List-Paragraph-C-C2\">It will be helpful to share any of the documents you\u2019ve completed for this PDP with them.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section bb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; admin_label=&#8221;Section&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px|0px|54px|0px&#8221;][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;row&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;12px|0px|23px|0px&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_divider admin_label=&#8221;Divider&#8221; color=&#8221;#114700&#8243; show_divider=&#8221;on&#8221; divider_weight=&#8221;2px&#8221; \/][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;Row&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;1px|0px|27px|0px&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;left&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.51&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Normal-C\">If you have not already done so, why not choose someone now to fill this role? <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve chosen someone, please let them have this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aimint.org\/pdp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2017\/02\/BarnabasGuidelines.pdf\">Barnabas Guidelines document<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; which lays out a few further guidelines for them.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Normal-C\">As you make progress through the PDP, make sure you <\/span><span class=\"Normal-C-C2\">celebrate<\/span> <span class=\"Normal-C\">even the small successes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;left&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"Normal-P-P5\"><em><span class=\"Normal-C-C6\">\u201cMaster,\u201d he said, \u201cyou entrusted me with five bags of gold.
