Staying Connected
Once you return home from the field, we hope that you will stay connected and involved with AIM. Whether you are retiring, finishing your term of service or unsure of when you might return to the field, we invite you to engage in a variety of ways in order to challenge others with the needs in Africa and to maintain connection with AIM and its ministries.
Some ideas
- Connect and share with others who have also returned from cross-cultural work (your MR may be able to help with this).
- Make sure your Mobilising Region office has your updated email address if you are going inactive with AIM. If you are retiring, you can continue using your aimint.org address.
- Ask friends to add you to their lists to receive their updates, prayer/praise.
- Pray regularly for ministries you know and let people know you are praying.
- Receive the prayer updates and bulletins produced by your Mobilising region.
- Be a part of your regional AIM prayer meetings–or start one in your area.
- Attend AIM events in your area.
- Attend a retired missionaries retreat if one is held. Find out who organises these and volunteer to help.
- Volunteer to mentor/facilitate new missionaries pre-field or to help out in a home based orientation.
- Contact your local AIM rep and ask how to help.
- Ask your MR about their social media (Facebook page, Twitter account, etc.).
- Pray for UPGs (prayafrica.org).
- Volunteer for short term service to fill gaps on the field.
- Promote prayer for Africa in your home church.
- Ask about diaspora outreach and see if you can serve in that way.
