Long Term – Psychiatrist AIM Care Kampala

We are looking for a psychiatrist who can provide preventative and curative services for missionary personnel, including evaluations and treatment. The individual will be part of the Africa Based Support ministries, based at AIM Care Kampala. An aspect of the role requires leading workshops on mental health issues and providing advice to AIM leadership and national church leaders regarding member care.

Kampala, Uganda

Experience

Required: Sufficient experience to provide psychiatric care to adults with a broad range of issues, without supervision.

Desired: Providing psychiatric care to youth or children; experience in using a wide variety of modalities; living and working in a cross-cultural setting; long distance counselling (i.e. Skype or e-mail); working in a team context (preferably multi-cultural).

Training & qualifications

Required: Fully Qualified Registrar with speciality in Adult/General Psychiatry using a variety of modalities.

Desired: Training in managing youth and/or children; teaching; leading workshops

Personal characteristics required:

You will be a mature Christian with a consistent walk with God and godly life-style. Creative, self-motivated, and an initiator, you will also be able to ask for direction when appropriate. You will be a team player, having the ability to thrive in a cross-cultural setting. You will be resilient and able to cope well under pressure.
