Medical Electives
AIM offers Medical Elective (ME) placements in Kenya, Uganda & Madagascar. Placements are limited due to AIM’s priority to train African health care workers, however, AIM also values the opportunity for medical students to train within our mission setting. Following are web links and some videos of the ME placement locations.
Kijabe Hospital, Kenya
Kijabe Hospital, founded by AIM, is run by the African Inland Church, and continues to partner with mission agencies who provide short and long-term medical practitioners to help train national medical workers. See video.
Kapsowar Hospital, Kenya
Watch this video as general introduction to Kapsowar Hospital and an invitation to serve. Also, enjoy this photo slideshow of the 2012 medical elective participants:
Kotido, Uganda
The medical work at Kotido is at a more basic level. See video.
There are also Medical Elective placements in Mandritsara, Madagascar, although the ability to communicate in French (and English) is required. More details can be provided on request.
AIM’s medical ministries range from the provision of basic medical care to the performing complex surgeries, education, and prevention. In addition to meeting people’s physical needs, AIM’s medical ministries also play a central role in opening doors for other ministries, being a Christian witness to unreached people groups and in developing Christ-centred churches in Africa.
