Serving In Madagascar

Jeremy and Felicity, with their boys, are serving through AIM at the Good News Hospital in Mandritsara, Madagascar.

Felicity grew up in a Christian family and in her early teens she developed a passion for overseas mission work. After school she studied nursing and midwifery.

On returning from a short-term mission trip as a young adult, Jeremy moved from a career in wildlife, to peri-operative nursing and Christian ministry. In 2010 he married Felicity and went on to complete studies in ministry and joined a church planting team with AIM. Jeremy & Felicity then served in a remote part of South Sudan for two years, before their next assignment in Madagascar at The Good News Hospital.

Madagascar is one of the poorest nations in the world. Many believe their dead ancestors must be appeased with sacrifices since they are thought to control their fate including sickness, poverty, poor harvests and infertility. Into this darkness the Good News Hospital is sharing the light of the gospel, bringing forgiveness, freedom and hope to those who put their trust in Jesus.

The mission hospital in Mandritsara offers life-saving surgery such as caesarean sections and compassionate medical care hand in hand with the Good News. It is in a rural area where patients would otherwise need to travel up to 200 km for surgery. In the rainy season it can take days for patients to reach Mandritsara via the terrible roads in the region. You can learn more about the ministry at https://www.mandritsara.org.uk/

Jeremy is using his skills in anaesthetic and recovery nursing to support and to provide training for the nurses working in the surgical block. This can be anything from writing protocols and running training sessions, to trouble shooting equipment issues or ensuring cleaning standards and daily checks are achieved. He is also facilitating bible study with the staff and preaching at local and village churches. Felicity is loving being with her boys, facilitating their schooling and language learning, and enjoying building relationships with Malagasy friends.

Please continue to pray for:

  • Jeremy & Felicity to be an encouragement to their team (missionary, Malagasy, short-termers) who are all involved in reaching the lost with the love of Christ in word and deed.
  • For help learning the local language so we can better communicate on a heart level.
  • For Jeremy to know where to direct his energy for the greatest impact.
  • That we would not become discouraged, but keep trusting in the Lord to provide all we need.
  • That we would be sensitive to God’s direction and be eager to learn from Him day by day.
  • That our boys would grow into men of great faith in Jesus.
