Nita is part of the Karamoja Team in Moroto, Uganda. Her ministry includes language learning, discipleship, and working with pastors and church leaders. Recently a Theological Education by Extension (T.E.E.) program was begun, headed up by her team-mate, Talita. Nita is one of the facilitators and assists Talita with some of the administration of the program.
Nita came to faith at a young age and was encouraged towards mission by her family and church, especially through the many visiting missionaries who shared about their work in various parts of the world.
Although Nita trained in medical science and worked in diagnostic laboratories, she knew that God had called her to go as a missionary to a people group who were in need of hearing the gospel. So she began to prepare by doing a diploma of Theology at Sydney Missionary and Bible College and then joined Africa Inland Mission.
Her first term with AIM was on a TIMO team on an island in the Indian Ocean. There she was training in cross-cultural ministry while being immersed in an unreached people group which was predominantly Muslim. After that team concluded Nita spent five years helping in administration in the AIM Asia-Pacific office in Gosford. During that time she was able to go on a prayer team to Uganda to pray for AIM missionaries there and for some teams that were planned to begin soon after that. One of the places Nita visited on that trip was Moroto, where she felt God impressing on her to join the team which was planned to begin there.
In 2017 Nita was able to join the team in Moroto and has been serving there in various capacities since that time. Currently she is mentoring a friend in leading the women’s Bible study and care group, involved in ministry to two rural village churches (Nataparakwangan and Timorok), facilitating one subject in the T.E.E. program, and working with pastors and church leaders.
Please pray for Nita:
· Language learning is always a struggle, so keep praying that Nita will be able to learn the language well and be able to use it without always needing a translator.
· Pray for T.E.E. program to continue to grow and equip believers with a greater understanding of God through the Bible, and to be able to use what they learn in ministry in the churches.
· Pray for the team as they meet with pastors and church leaders, encouraging the churches to take hold of the vision to reach out to the rural villages with the gospel and plant churches among the Karamojong people.
· Pray for the ministry to Nataparakwangan and Timorok.
