The Facts and Findings

1008 of Africa’s 3700 unique ethnic people groups, most of them Islamic, are still unreached, and have no viable gospel witness. This totals more than 300 million people, who remain substantially ignorant of the good news of Jesus Christ.

By definition, these unreached people groups have less than 2% believers in Jesus among them. There are insufficient believers and resources to evangelise to the remainder of their people

Why?

Today, the places where the gospel is yet to take root are not so much geographical as they are cultural and ideological. Within the borders of any given African country, the Church may be alive and well among one people group and non-existent among another. In African nations where Islam is dominant, Christianity is often simply not welcome.

Many African churches are unable to provide adequate training and resources to mobilise African evangelists and leaders. AIM wants to see true disciples of Jesus walking in a deep and meaningful faith with Jesus.

What is AIM doing about this?

Our focus is to proclaim the gospel and make disciples. AIM is now almost mid-way in its ‘VISION 2020’ of:

  • Engaging with 20 new unreached African people groups
  • Reaching 20 already engaged groups, seeing them move from unreached to reached
  • Moblising 400 African cross-cultural workers
  • Training 4000 African church leaders
  • Facilitating 40 church-based teams among Africans in countries outside of Africa, among the diaspora.

AIM currently has workers among 60 unreached groups within the continent of Africa, as well as diaspora locations worldwide.   Since 2016 AIM has:

  • engaged 8 new unreached people groups in Africa
  • mobilised 40 Africans into mission work
  • continued to collaborate with African churches and organisations to mobilise African workers
  • Approximately 1,600 Africa church leaders receive training through AIM activities in 2016
