The aim of this job is to make the name of Jesus known among the Gabbra and Borana sharing the scriptures, building relationships, discipling and equipping the believers.
Major tasks would involve a certain amount of backyard mechanic such as with diesel & petrol engines & farm equipment maintenance. Welding. There is no access to air tools and it requires a willingness to do ‘jerry rigging’ as this is a very remote location. There would also be an involvement with the church/youth group depending on age, gifting and experience.
There are lots of ministry opportunities. The Bible can be communicated to people during their daily activities, Bible studies, children ministry, ladies’ conversation, helping youth develop their skills.

Dukana, Kenya
Duration:
From one month to a year, depending upon the short-termers availability
Experience:
Required: Experience of working on both diesel and petrol engines, primarily in engines built from 1980 to present. Most work is done without air compression tools or diagnostic machinery. A basic understanding of the Christian doctrine and experience in teaching small groups at church (any age group) would be important.
Desired: Formal education is not a requirement so long as the mechanic has experience. To have other skills such as medical care, veterinary science, teacher, mechanic or builder would be a bonus!
Personal Characteristics Required:
Outgoing, self-initiating, mature, active/ athletic and handy.
Housing:
Housing will be a separate apartment with metal roof and cemented floor. Toilet and shower outhouse.
