More than 4,000 Ugandan children  were impacted by an AIM International children’s ministry team in July as part of a long-term ministry.

The team was led by South African missionary Brian de Smidt and included four Australians and  people from South Africa and the UK/Europe. The team also included local Ugandan members.

The team ministered to children in the Tororo area visiting a high school and seven primary schools. They contacted about 4,380 children, teaching them songs, presenting scripture through drama, sharing testimonies and telling about their home countries.

The team was encouraged by how the national leaders and church members are taking on child evangelism for the longer term. AIM’s International short-term program director, Karen Lewis said people doing short-term can most effectively make disciples in roles that are part of long-term strategies.

The purpose of the Tororo team was to serve and enhance the ministry of  local pastor, Rev. Oridi,  and his church.  Rev. Oridi and his wife  connected with AIM through missionary and children’s worker Evie Ant. Pastor Oridi opted for the team to do school ministry and integrated youth from his church in the team.
