About
Like the fishermen who dropped their nets at the feet of Jesus. Or those very first “Inlanders” who founded AIM in an unprecedented push toward Africa’s inland peoples. We are characterized by uncompromising love and a courageous obedience to Christ’s call that takes us to places of uncertainty and, sometimes, insecurity. We go wisely, but in faith – knowing that the One who calls us is faithful. Knowing that we are merely participants in an unstoppable work of God to bring the nations unto him.
Partnering with churches
Reaching Africa’s unreached
Africa Inland Mission serves and partners with churches to advance the gospel among Africans who have the least opportunity to hear about Jesus.
Over 300 Million Africans still haven’t heard
Our passion is to see the worship of Jesus Christ spread across the continent of Africa – through individual lives fully committed to him, and collectively through Christ-centered churches. God has done a mighty work in Africa, where his Church is vast and growing daily, but the task is far from finished.
Today, the places where the gospel is yet to take root are not so much geographical as they are cultural and ideological. Because of these barriers, nearly 1000 of Africa’s 3700 unique ethnic people groups are still unreached, with no viable witness to the good news. That’s over 300 million people who have little opportunity to hear the gospel, and even less to be discipled as a follower of Jesus. It is for these we labor.
Compelled by Christ’s Love
Africa Inland Mission has been leading people into meaningful cross-cultural ministry for more than 125 years. We send workers throughout Africa and among African diaspora around the globe. We’re engaged with over 100 unreached people groups and have hundreds of opportunities to join in. The work is often as diverse as the gifts that each member brings, but all of our activities fit within three broad areas of focus:
- Disciple-making among the unreached
- Equipping and Mobilizing African churches
- Serving and supporting the above
We are
We are part of a movement infused with rich history and fresh vision. We come as learners and work in teams. We go to some of the hardest places, but we are ordinary people, transformed by Jesus and called to an extraordinary journey.

1. Rooted
We start from a place of deep and personal relationship with Christ, and consistently return to this place in the daily unfolding of ministry. Everything flows from this. Communion with Christ, commitment to his Word, reflection, repentance, prayer: these nurture the roots of our outward expression of ministry to those around us.

2. Compelled
Compelled by Christ’s love, we love, pray for, and proclaim the gospel to Africa’s Unreached – those who have little or no access to the good news. Through pioneering ministry efforts and partnerships with African churches, our desire is for reproducing local churches to spring up as agents for spiritual growth and the advance of God’s kingdom.

3. Emptied
We remember that our sufficiency comes from Christ. We serve by his grace, and submit to his will. At times, our service will call us to sacrifice – and even suffer – for the sake of the unreached and the glory of God. Filled with the Spirit, we present ourselves as empty vessels, putting aside our dreams and desires for the cause of Christ.

4. Reliant
Teams are the heart of how we function. We never go alone, acknowledging the value of dependence and the beauty of fellowship laid out for us in God’s design. We need one another: For living and learning, for encouragement, to sharpen, carry burdens, and share in the triumphs. We not only rely on our teammates; but also the local church and the host community. Our love and unity testify of the One we proclaim.

5. Present
We show up, stay long, and go deep. Seeking to reach people in their context determines where and how we live. We come ready to embrace a simpler lifestyle and are committed to learning the language and culture – that we may reflect Christ as we dwell, invested and sincere, in the midst of a people who need to see him.

6. Relational
Ministry is always centered on people. We seek meaningful relationships marked by love, compassion, and trust – with teammates, national church partners, and in the friendships we foster among our host culture. We offer more than just our gifts or knowledge. We make ourselves vulnerable and offer our whole selves.

7. Curious
We come as learners – humble, patient, and with open hearts and minds. From the daily lessons in stumbling through language and life’s incidentals, to our commitment toward personal and professional growth – we are eager students of all that God, our teammates, and the host culture have to teach us.

8. Luminous
A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Our faith is courageous and contagious, spilling over into a life that speaks the gospel in words, actions, and everyday life. Our motivations, attitudes, relationships, steadfast presence, team dynamics, and inner life reflect the light of our redeemer and hope, Jesus Christ.
Where we Work
AIM has personnel serving in over 20 African nations. Our work is divided into five regions: Northern, Central, Eastern, Southern, and the African Diaspora around the globe. Some countries restrict traditional missionary work and are not listed on the map — In these places we serve through Creative Access ministries.
History and Values

“All my life I was so lost not knowing right from wrong or who God was, but now I have peace with God and know who he is because you came.”
